Here you will find events focusing on giving artists a chance to be free to experiment and push boundaries with new and creative ideas.

PHILADELPHIA ART HANDLING PRESENTS:

October 17th, 2026 – November 17th, 2026

OPENING: October 17th, 2026. 6-10 PM

In Globe Dye Works on 4500 Worth Street, Studio: B202/C202, Philadelphia, PA 19124

7-UP.2: THE UNMADE, a two-person exhibition presented by the Philadelphia Art

Handling team, bringing together the work of Sean Irwin and Tom McFarland for an evening

centered around art, experimentation, and the execution of ideas.

Philadelphia Art Handling provides thoughtful solutions for the fine art world on both a local and

international level. With 7-UP.2 THE UNMADE, we are taking that a step further by inviting

audiences to look beyond the finished artwork, into the process that creates it, and the enchanting

artifacts it leaves behind.

The exhibition is a celebration of art and artifacts born from the ritual of making. 7-UP.2 THE

UNMADE will be presented in a dimly lit space surrounding a shrouded and glowing shrine

built to house the curation. The works presented are not all necessarily the traditional idea of

“fine art,” but rather objects, surfaces, and remnants that emerged through the process of

creating. The beauty and significance of these works was discovered through the act of making

and taking notice of the details that were left behind. At Philadelphia Art Handling, we are

uniquely interested in taking a step back and looking at the creation, presentation, and

installation of art from a different perspective. We invite you to come and peek at the world

through our eyes.

Sean Irwin and Tom McFarland approach making from distinctly personal perspectives putting

up 7 unique pieces each. Irwin, a Philadelphia-based artist and master framer, works across

sculpture and drawing, developing intricate patterns and surfaces through materials including

cast dryer lint, PVA, pencil, gouache, and micro-glitter. His practice explores the relationship

between process, surface, and transformation. McFarland, a Brooklyn-based artist and RISD-

trained painter originally from San Antonio, works primarily in mixed media, combining

materials such as string, resin, acrylic, mesh, wood, and hardware to deconstruct and rebuild the

traditional picture plane.

Together, their work offers two different perspectives on what happens when the process of

making becomes the artwork itself. 7-UP.2 THE UNMADE asks us to consider the marks,

materials, accidents, remnants, and discoveries that exist somewhere between an idea and its

final form.

Philadelphia Art Handling invites you to join us for an evening with music and beverages

celebrating the beauty of making and everything that can come from it.

Included Artists:

SEAN IRWIN, TOM MCFARLAND

About Philadelphia Art Handling LLC:

“Philadelphia Art Handling LLC is an Art Handling service in Philadelphia and the surrounding

area. As an art student in Philadelphia I found it was always difficult to move my work since I

didn’t have a car and worked in large formats. My mission has been to create a local business

focused on helping artists, artisans, makers, collectors, and galleries with effective fine art

solutions. Our primary services include art handling (installation, transportation, crating,

shipping assistance, condition reporting, deinstallation, etc.). We also provide documentation

and digital arts (photography, website design, graphic design for show materials, vinyl graphic

design and sourcing for physical show graphics, collection maintenance and archiving (digital

inventory creation, for personal and insurance use).”

PAST PROGRAMS:

The 7-UP Club

October 25th, 2024

7-11 PM

4500 Worth St, Studio B202, Philadelphia, PA, 19124

We are honored to invite you to attend our first edition of the 7-UP Club. An experimental art viewing experience sponsored by Philadelphia Art Handling LLC.

From the start, our mission as a company has always been to create a local business focused on helping artists, artisans, makers, collectors, and galleries with effective fine art solutions.

The idea of the 7-UP Club originates from wanting to give artists a space to exhibit the projects that they want to showcase. A place where seven artists pick what they want to show. No curation, just creators showing what they want to the world, be it experimental, sentimental, or all of the above.

This show will be a one day event, in which you will only be able to see these unique works that same evening. A night that is designed around artists. A time to put them at the forefront and for guests to have the opportunity to anonymously view a couple select new works, that have never been shown before, in a horticulturally infused environment.

This will be a masquerade of the arts, giving people the opportunity to have unfiltered conversations about the works. Guests who pre-purchase tickets will gain access to see and purchase the art online for the 15 days prior to the night of the show.

On the night of our masquerade, we request our guests to be masked unless they have purchased one of the items. (masquerade masks will be provided, though guests are welcome to bring their own) The idea being that this magical night will be centered on these talented artists showcasing their work. To honor them, we request that any guest that buys a work of art to share the spotlight with the artist, as a celebrated supporter of their career.

With Halloween being six days later, this masquerade will be one to enter into Halloweekend with splendor. Come join us in an evening of beautiful art, music and merriment!

The 7-UP Club will include paintings, ceramics, multimedia works, and fashion created by some incredibly talented artists.

Our first event will be showcasing works by Alex Griffin, Ben Peterson, Branche Coverdale, Taylor Pilote, Tom McFarland, Steve Sanchez, and Orlando Saverino-Loeb. These are artists dedicated to their craft with a passion that inspires others and we are honored to share their projects with the world on this special night.

We hope to see you there!
